Window Manager
Basics
- Desktop icons open windows such as
site-index.sys,Resume,Update Center,Reader,Presentation, and the app windows. - Clicking a window brings it to the front.
- Titlebar buttons support close, minimize, and maximize / restore.
- Right-clicking a window opens a basic context menu with bring-to-front, minimize, maximize / restore, and close.
Multi-Instance
- Reader supports multi-instance windows keyed by the page path.
- Example:
/docs/introand/handbook/admin/guidecan be open simultaneously.
Window Movement And Sizing
- Windows can be dragged by the titlebar.
- Dragging a window to the left or right screen edge snaps it to half width.
- Dragging a window to the top edge maximizes it.
- Windows can be resized from all four corners.
- Free-dragging is clamped so a window cannot be lost completely outside the visible workspace.
Desktop Interaction
- Clicking and dragging on empty desktop space draws a marquee selection box.
- Selected icons can be dragged as a group.
- Right-clicking the desktop opens a small context menu for icon deselection and layout reset.
Window Variants
Resumeandsite-index.sysuse XP-style chrome.Update Centeruses a system-style chrome variant.- Most other apps use the default shell chrome.
